THE MAKING PART
2 large potatoes; smashed well
1/2 tbsp oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chillis, finely chopped
1 tsp Ginger,garlic
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
few curry leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric pwder
salt to taste
Batter Making
1 cup Gram flour/Besan Flour
2 tbsp. rice flour
salt to taste
1/2 tsp red chilli pwder
A pinch cooking soda
water(less than 1/4 cup)

- Take a pan,add some oil,add the ginger,garlic,cumin seeds,onion,green chillies,saute for 5 minutes and then add smashed potatoes,salt,turmeric powder and cook them for 2 minutes.Allow them to cool.
- Transfer the potatoes in the bowl,make a small ball and keep it aside.
- In a bowl, add the ingredients required for making the batter.Make a thick flow batter by adding a little bit water.
- Heat the enough oil in a pan for deep frying the vada,Reduce the flame as medium before you place the batata vada.
- Now coat/dip the potato ball in the batter and place it in the hot oil.cook them under medium high flame till golden brown. Transfer them into the tissue paper.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato sauce.
