Vermicelli Upma/Semiya Upma

Vermicelli Upma is a kind of rice variety mixed with vegetables which gives also the tasty and Healthy Breakfast.This dish is very simple and quick to make like Rava Upma.

                                   Vermicelli/semiya upma

1 cup Vermicelli/semiya
2 cups Water
3-5 Oil/Refined Oil
3 tsp Ghee
1/2 Onion;finely chopped
2 Green Chilli;finely chopped
1 tomato;finely chopped
1/2 tsp. Ginger;finely chopped

1/2 cup Mixed Vegetables; finely chopped carrot, fresh green peas, beans)
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/4 tsp Urud Dal - 1/2 tsp
few curry leaves
Coriander leaves - to garnish
Lime juice from 1 small lime


  1. Take the cook pan,add 1 tsp. of ghee,1 tsp of oil,add the Vermicelli fry on a low flame till it turns light golden brown and transfer them it into the bowl. This step is very important.
  2. Take the cook pan,heat the 3 tsp of oil,fry the seasoning ingredients wait till mustard seeds popsout.then add garlic,onion,tomates,fry for 2 minutes.
  3. Now add all the vegetables,turmeric powder,salt,cook the vegetables till it turn soft.
  4. Now pour the water,bring it to rolling boil.
  5. Now Pour the fried vermicelli gradually and stir continuously.add some salt if you want.
  6. Reduce the flame to dry out the water completely.add some ghee and oil and blend them well to get fine aroma and texture.
  7. Garnish it with corriander leaves and Serve it with hot.
