Tomato Rice

Hai my foodie visitors,today I have posted a nice,simple but more delicious rice variety,Tomato Rice learnt from my mom.This is my childhood fav.recipe.Tomato rice with crispy plantain roast,chicken Tikka,Tandoori chicken are the best side-kick for the recipe.

ingredients iconTHE MAKING PART
2 cup(300 gms) Basmathi Rice
3 tab.spoon Butter
3 tsp cooking oil
2 Large Sized Onion;finely chopped
3 Ripe Large Tomatoes;finely chopped
1 cinnamon
2 Bay Leaves
3 cardomom
1/2 C Mint Leaves;finley chopped
1/2 C Cilantro/parsley Leaves;finley chopped
5 Green chillies;finley chopped
2 Dry Red chillies;finley chopped
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp salt to taste
11/2 cups water

2 pods Garlic,1/2"Ginger crush well.

  •  Gentle Wash the Basmathi Rice for twice in a cold water,soak in the water for 10 minutes.
  •  Heat the Pressure cooker,add the butter and cooking oil,add the green chillies,dry red chillies,all spices,chopped onion fry until shallow brown.
  • Add the tomatoes,crushed ginger,garlic,fry until smashy.
  • Add the chopped mint leaves,Cilantro leaves.
  • Add the Basmathi rice,should be throughly drained water.add turmeric powder.stir fry them for a minute.
  • Test the taste before close the pressure pan lid.
  • Now add 11/2 cups of water and salt to taste.
  • Just take a sigle whistle and simmer for exactly 2-4 minutes.
  • Enjoy with Raitas.
