Batata Vada(crispy Potato vada)

                          BATATA VADA

ingredients iconTHE MAKING PART
2 large potatoes; smashed well
1/2 tbsp oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chillis, finely chopped
1 tsp Ginger,garlic
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
few curry leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric pwder
salt to taste

 Batter Making
1 cup Gram flour/Besan Flour
2 tbsp. rice flour
salt to taste
1/2 tsp red chilli pwder
A pinch cooking soda
water(less than 1/4 cup)



  1. Take a pan,add some oil,add the ginger,garlic,cumin seeds,onion,green chillies,saute for 5 minutes and then add smashed potatoes,salt,turmeric powder and cook them for 2 minutes.Allow them to cool.
  2. Transfer the potatoes in the bowl,make a small ball and keep it aside.
  3. In a bowl, add the ingredients required for making the batter.Make a thick flow batter by adding a little bit water.
  4. Heat the enough oil in a pan for deep frying the vada,Reduce the flame as medium before you place the batata vada.
  5. Now coat/dip the potato ball in the batter and place it in the hot oil.cook them under medium high flame till golden brown. Transfer them into the tissue paper.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato sauce.
